Summer Pruning

Life lessons from the garden…. Summer PRUNING!

I often find deep nourishment and inspiration in the garden. This summer was no different. We had a VERY productive first raspberry harvest this year. And then, in the “in between” stage… the plants that had fruited were yellowing and tired, and newer branches full of green were shooting upwards and forming new berry clusters.

Summer pruning helps to literally “clear the clutter” among the vines, making it easier to see the new berries coming, and lets in more light. A few months later, we are reaping the benefit of that summer prune with SO MANY berries again! Enough that we can make some fall raspberry jam.

It reminds me of the importance of making space for new things to emerge.

Where might you need a summer prune… in life, work or in your parenting?

What can you let go of to focus your efforts?

Where would you benefit by allowing in more light?
